Offensive lineman L.J. Shelton scheduled to visit this week
Free agent offensive tackle L.J. Shelton is scheduled to visit the Lions on Tuesday and Wednesday.
Shelton played at Rochester High and Eastern Michigan. He was cut by Miami this month, but he is a nine-year NFL veteran who has started 16 games each of the past three seasons.
The Lions have an opening at right tackle. They have been trying to re-sign Damien Woody, who moved from right guard to right tackle last year and can hit the free agent market Friday.
“Depending on the outcome” of his visit to Detroit, Shelton is considering visiting Seattle, Jacksonville and Buffalo, his agent, Vance Larimer, wrote in an e-mail Monday.
